From marathons to mullets: Amplifi’s Charity Commitment for 2023

2023 was a whirlwind of fundraising activities, and we're thrilled to share the highlights with you. Every event, big and small, made a significant difference, and we're so proud of how our team embraced every opportunity to support York Mind, SWW Mind and the Matt Hampson Foundation (MHF). We managed to raise a whopping £6,409 in total, with £5,239 going to Mind, and £1,170 going to MHF. So how did we fundraise in 2023?

🥞 Pancakes and Prizes: We kicked off with the "Amplifi Pancake Breakfast & Biggest Tosser Contest" - a deliciously competitive start to our charity endeavours! What’s your favourite topping?

💙 Feeling Blue, Doing Good: "Wear it Blue for Blue Monday" wasn't just about donning our favourite blue outfits; it was a vibrant statement of support for mental health awareness.

💈 Mullet and moustaches: Roan took part in the "Mind My Mullet" campaign, where after growing out a mullet for 9 months, he let an office full of wholly entertained Amplifiers shave it off just before the Christmas break. He raised money alongside his Movember 'Mo Bros’ who all grew out their ‘staches, proving that charity can be a hairy endeavour!

🏃‍♀️ Mud and marathons: In September, a team of Amplifier’s volunteered to do the Autumn Wolf Run, an adrenaline-pumping challenge where we ran, climbed, and splashed to support the Matt Hampson Foundation. That’s not the only fitness-focused charity event though! Stuart set his Strava and ran the Rotterdam Marathon, while Anna laced up her running shoes and conquered the London Marathon, both showcasing endurance and determination for a great cause.

☀️ Fun in the sun: Our social calendar buzzed with events like the summer tombola, bake sales and pub quizzes, paired beautifully with supporting sporting televised sporting events! For the FIFA and Rugby World Cups, participants donated to be randomly assigned a team, creating a buzz of anticipation. Fans of both sports were eager to see if their assigned team would clinch victory and they’d get to take home the Amplifi GOAT trophy. Of course, it wouldn’t be a summer fundraiser without including Eurovision! We love a bit of karaoke here at Amplifi (some of us are known to sing until their lungs give out), so love to raise some money while having a dance.

Beyond fundraising, we also offered our expertise in data work to further support these incredible charities. We’ve assisted the York Mind branch in migrating their data into a new CRM to help them expand their fundraising strategy as well as other exciting ways to use their data for good.

For Mind, the money we’ve raised this year could be used for 174 counselling sessions, 262 young person one to one mentoring sessions, or 120 people to access a 6-week mindfulness course, to name just a few! Our fundraising for the Matt Hampson Foundation was dedicated towards their new Intensive Rehab Lodges onsite at their Get Busy Living Centre in Leicestershire. The lodges have been in use nearly every weekend since April 2023, allowing them to offer intensive rehabilitation packages to beneficiaries staying with them.

Our journey in 2023 was more than just raising funds; it was about community, laughter, and making a real difference. Here's to more adventures in giving in 2024!
